Been building up to this ride for some time ....

Maritz is used to doing B-Spot at Bloemendal, then up that never-ending hill ... but only up to the Vineyard Cheat, up a bit more and then Homerun.  He loves this loop, and has been getting better and better at the hills, and so I started preparing him for THIS ride ....

On Saturday we got up to the Vineyard Cheat, and then we carried almost to the first Eskom towers .... turned back and did our normal loop.

On this glorious Sunday morning he was ready for the FULL loop ....

B-Spot is simply magical in the autumn -

At our normal turning point we stopped for a sip of water and some sweets for Maritz

Once at the top of the farm I gave Maritz the choice :

1) do we continue with the full circuit on Bloemendal, OR

2) do we go through the gate and Majik forest ?

On top of the koppie, just before we drop into Majik forest

and then the view of the dam

Then it was time for the Protea corridor back to Bloemendal.  All it, just an 11km loop.  Maritz has done a couple of 12 to 15km day rides already .... but at 200m elevation gain this was a new test of his metal ....

That first A-frame has a crooked run-up, and Maritz stalled right at the top ... in 2016 he fell on A-frames on 2 rides, so this stall dented his confidence, and he walked the next three A-frames.  But hen he got his mojo back and cycled over the remaining 4 A-frames

His legs were taking a beating with that last climb at D-Aria ... nothing a hand on the back cant solve

A green Oros drink, and he wanted to go for a second lap of B-Spot !  :w00t:     Clocked in at 12,3km/h average for this second lap ....    no time for pics this time round ...  :whistling:

A long ride by my standards today including Homtini pass which is a long tough climb.
