ai here we go again with "the rules are the rules and we must just accept them."

You'd do well in a fascist society. That's not a slight against you its just that some people are made for following every rule unconditionally and others are made to question the validity of said rules.

So if the government legalised murder you'd go and shoot someone? Because you know, its the law and I must obey

Don't be like that, you know what he was saying.

We tend to chastise the Karen's on Facebook and other platforms.

But they are actually way more "brave" than most of us on here. At least they use their true names.

We are actually quite pathetic, sitting here behind our pseudonyms, acting brave and calling others out for whatever behaviour doesn't align with ours.

Feeling good that: "Well I showed him"

I'm just a little bit over it for today.

Keep the rubber side down okes.

Exactly.

Nobody here is in the position that the multi-disciplinary panel advising the gov on the best overall course of action they should take.

I mean look at the data coming out daily on our daily rate of infection and the overall number of infected people per million population (ours hovers around 110 infections/million people, while places like the USA, UK, Spain, Italy are in the thousands/million people). Now...Imagine RSA was in the thousands of infections per million people...How do you think the economy would deal with that...let it sink in a little.

Now tell me out lockdown is unnecessary in it's form when our healthcare system is not comparable to those first world countries. We have no choice (that I can see, but then again I am just a lowly data scientist type person) FOR THE ECONOMY but to learn from countries who have made poor decisions and try to ensure we do not end up in a similar situation.

Sure no gov will implement things perfectly and there are definitely places where improvement can be made (think 06:00 to 09:00 exercise for one minor one), but regulations need to be made for everyone, not the minority that might adhere properly to less severe restrictions.

Anyway, my 50c. Follow the rules, they're there for a reason and easy to follow. Especially the EASY ones like 5km radius and using a 4king face mask you irresponsible tjops not doing so.

In my area. So many people out. I actually enjoy it. Far safer as well. Just be careful and pass widely.

Saw one guy sprinting down the road in sandals. Must have been doing 3 30m/km.

Wear a buff so I can easily breath. Wish I had done this years ago when I used to cycle in the freezing cold. The buff really helps to warm up the air.

Sooo..... Getting back to the thread title.

How are you people going to train now that we are allowed outdoors? Realistically for me I'll at best get 1 1/2 hours in. I like my bed and I don't have a light.

Are you still going to do indoors or are you going full analog?

Are you going to smash hills and intervals due to the limited time?

Are you planning your routes to take in hills or are you trying to smash as many kms as possible inside the 5km radius of treason? Or both?

I didn't do anything yesterday. I'm ok with that coz it was raining and I hate riding in the rain. Tomorrow the plan is a short 3km run and then swap out the running shoes for cleats and hammer some intervals until 8.45 and gap it for home. I'm on a Zwift program and I want to finish that but not at the expense of real riding.

I have enough scope within my 5km Radius to keep me entertained for now. A lot of what I ride regularly already falls within that so my training remains the same

Use the morning slot for my 1hr to 90 min morning sessions and 45min to an hour once the suns up to take my kid out of the house for a bike ride, rub or play session at the park.

Late afternoon/evening slots for indoor functional fitness or IDT.

My routine hasn't changed much.

Longer rides (3hrs)  are a bit of an issue due to the traffic (cars and people) on Saturday and Sunday Mornings on Boyes and Main Road. May have to convert the area of a circle into an ellipse. Will have to see how it goes this coming weekend. FRiday and Saturday made social distancing difficult due to the number of people out and the geography of the area

End the lockdown and bring on the over hyped virus.  It's time to face it and manage it.  We need to stop hiding away from this over hyped, exaggerated threat.  Most of the country is not socially distancing anyway - they are thronging together in thousands, begging for food parcels.

80,000 Britons died in the flu season of 68/69. They did not lockdown and the country carried on as normal. We have scared and incompetent children for politicians these days.

And citizens who do not understand why we don't need to have another virus killing people. But hey, who are scientists to argue with laymen.

4kit, I'm out, can't handle all these ppl with their inability to attempt to understand the reasons behind why.

They may as well be an antivaxxer or flat earther

Legal doesn't mean compulsory..

I am fully aware that the government is listening to medical, health scientists and epidemiologists. They have good people working on the health impact. Very few argued against a lock-down and very few do so now.

But no decision can be made on a simplistic, single dimension. Doing so leads us to the statement of the surgeon who said : "the operation was a success, unfortunately the patient died". As always, even when things are difficult and dangerous, rights vs obligations, restrictions vs freedoms, health vs welfare must be balanced.

We know who the medical specialists are, but who are the economic specialists advising the government ? What are they considering ? Where is the balance ? Why are they imposing restrictions that are irrational or imposed for reasons other than the enabling legislation ? What is the social impact of millions going hungry when there are less draconian ways of managing the risk of contagion

Some of the proclamations are clearly not made for the proper purpose. Ebrahim Patel says that e-commerce is shut down because it would be "unfair" to allow them to trade. Shutting them down has no medical or epidemiological basis and as such is irrational.

Bheki Cele bans wine exports because criminals could intercept the trucks delivering the wine to the ports. How does that stop the spread of the disease ?

I don't know the answer and frankly, neither do you. It seems neither does the president.

same here, I'm done, back to Zwift... I thought on a weekday it'd be better...

I don't enjoy these rides outside with every runner breething at my face. I don't see group riders though where I go (Sunningdale) but I avoid the table view beach front like the plague, that's probably where they are...

collegue lives in the area, and rode along beach front this morning just after 7:00

Apparently MUCH better than over the weekend !!

If you think or anybody thinks that they are anonymous on this forum, they are very much mistaken.

I have yet not been able to find out who somebody is within 15mins of trying.

As for Karen's being brave. Well I suggest we google Bill Burr's thoughts on what brave is. Fireman are brave. We and the Karen's are just bitchy.
