Unfortunately my wife's bike ride took her on an unplanned helicopter ride yesterday.  Went out for a casual road ride when she wiped out at fairly low speed but hit her head hard on the road.  Concussion, broken elmbow and had to spend the night in ICU for observation due to a small amount of bleeding in the head (not the brain itself from what I understand).

Well not today, the last time I rode was last week Saturday and I've been sick ever since. Hopefully I can get a quiet slow ride in over the weekend.

Did the Red loop on the Klipspringer Trails near Gansbay last weekend. What a blast it was. I was advised to take the Red loop as it was supposed to be the most fun but didn't think much of it as it was only 12km long. Boy was I in for a surprise.

The loop might be short but it is demanding with lots of climbing through beautiful fynbos. There ars loads of short punchy sections aswell as loads of technical bits over rocks and tight switchbacks.

When you hit the top your blown away by this magnificent view of the valley below thst can be enjoyed from the comfort of a wooden bench on the hill.

And then you descend back down, what a blast! Fast flowing singletrack with lots of jumps and berms and smoe more technical bits to keep you awake.

I was amazed at what I found here, km apon km of purposefully built singletrack twisting between beautiful fynbos and the odd wildlife encounter thrown in the mix.

What a gem these people have hidden away in the mountains behind Gansbay. [emoji108]bff88d649191cd8e7863388182114372.jpgd04ab610e2a5cacd324dc817b43190f7.jpg1296001cb4943fb775872f673b1daa84.jpgeab888f2103544984b30f7163143acd6.jpg2c994d3b1fcd0c7f98faa98ac1db3186.jpg

My apologies, some of the pics wouldn't upload first time round so I had to load them again and now they are slightly out of place.[emoji85]
